Finally, real science is coming to the dietary guidelines. What this article fails to address is how much of the old guidelines were influenced by the lobbying of the agricultural industry.

Government recommendations on how much fat and salt you should eat weren’t always based on the best available evidence. That may be changing.

It’s official: Americans should drink more coffee

I’ve always been confused by the “new agey” health food fanatical activists who polemicize vociferously about the evils of coffee, linking it to all manner of health problems based on spurious or non existent “studies” when there is really nothing more “natural” the a naturally growing coffee bean. What I’ve come to conclude that the hatred many in the “new age health food world” feel for coffee is really a projection of their hatred for “big business” which obviously controls the entire coffee industry. I get that, except as the evidence mounts for the overwhelming positive health benefits of drinking large amounts of coffee continue grow, how else but thru big business can affordable coffee be processed and distributed to the largest number of people? Or is the “new age health food” constituency so elitist that they only believe they should be allowed to reap the benefits of this natural wonder with real scientific credibility to back up the claims? I suspect it’s both a dislike of big business and elitism.

Well the evidence is incontrovertible:
